With Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming to a close, we look back at some of the highlights of the first 12 films from Marvel Studios!

Robert Downey Jr. first brought Tony Stark to life with Marvel’s “Iron Man” in 2008, featuring all the wit, charm, and intelligence that fans expected from reading about the billionaire inventor for decades. His teammates might clash with Tony and his often egotistical sense of humor, but it’s that confidence that audiences around the world have grown to love!

Take a look at our 15 favorite lines from Tony Stark and stay tuned to Marvel.com for more look backs at the first two phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! These articles will contain spoilers, so proceed with caution if you haven’t watched all the Marvel Studios films.

Tony on Da Vinci – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man’

When reporter Christine Everhart (Leslie Bibb) confronts Tony after winning an award and she asks his thoughts on being compared to Leonardo Da Vinci, due to all his technological innovations, Tony glibly calls the comparison, “Absolutely ridiculous. I don’t paint.”

Tony on Robots – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man’

While developing his suit, Tony could only rely on robots of his creation to assist him and keep quiet about his research. When one robot preemptively pointed a fire extinguisher at him, Tony warned, “If you douse me again and I’m not on fire, I’m donating you to a city college.”

Tony on Flying - Marvel's 'Iron Man'

During preliminary testing of his attempts to defy gravity, Tony used boots in conjunction with gloves to briefly hover around his garage. Realizing he achieved his goal, Tony confidently pronounced,  “Yeah, I can fly”

Tony on Being Cautious – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man’

Preparing to take his first full-suited flight, the suit’s operating system, J.A.R.V.I.S., requested more diagnostic checks before leaving. Tony, knowing the suit’s capabilities, threw caution to the wind and said, “Sometimes you gotta run before you can walk.”

Tony on his Identity – Marvel’s 'Iron Man'

Being a super hero comes with a lot of collateral damage. After the destruction caused by his battle with the Iron Monger (Jeff Bridges), S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) gave Tony an acceptable cover story. Tony took it upon himself to ignore this backstory and announce to the press, “I am Iron Man.”

Tony on Mixed Martial Arts – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 2’

Knowing that it takes more than just his high-powered suit to defeat enemies, Tony spends time honing his hand-to-hand combat with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). When Tony surprises Happy in the boxing ring with a new move, Tony informs him about a rising trend, “It’s called ‘mixed martial arts.’ It’s been around for…3 weeks now.”

Tony on Captain America's Physique – 'Marvel's The Avengers'

Thawed out of a 60-plus year deep freeze, Captain America (Chris Evans) retained his youthful appearance. When Tony meets the Super Soldier, he can’t help but ask advice on how Cap stayed in such great shape after so many decades and asks, “What’s your thing, pilates?”

Tony on Thor’s Combat Abilities – ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’

After a heated altercation with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) about the fate of the nefarious Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Tony tried to put the incident behind him. He even complimented Thor the next time he saw him, saying, “No hard feelings ‘Point Break.’ You’ve got a mean swing.”

Tony on Bruce Banner – 'Marvel's The Avengers'

Having clearly followed Bruce Banner’s (Mark Ruffalo) career, Tony had a hard time containing his enthusiasm and gushing, “It’s good to meet you, Dr. Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I’m a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.”

Tony on Borrowed Items – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3’

With his suit out of commission, Tony had to ask a young friend (Ty Simpkins) for some supplies, including a digital watch. Tony protected this borrow limited edition “Dora the Explorer” watch, so when a thug crushed it, Tony got defensive and explained, “Okay that wasn’t mine to give away. That belonged to my friend’s sister.”

Tony on Former Flames – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3’

An ex-fling (Rebecca Hall) played an integral role in Aldrich Killian’s (Guy Pearce) plans to destroy Tony, which also included Killian taking Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) captive. When Tony freed Pepper from Killian’s clutches, Tony chided, “See what happens when you hang out with my ex-girlfriends?”

Tony on Pepper’s Resiliency – Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3’

Having feared he lost Pepper when she fell into a blazing inferno, her appearance completely surprised him, especially considering the damage she did to Killian to help Tony. The normally chatty Stark couldn’t muster a quip and merely muttered, “I got nothin’.”

In hopes of swiftly dispatching them all, Tony exclaims, “Guys, stop. We gotta talk this through,” followed by using his suit to shoot everyone, and finishing with, “Good talk.”

Returning from a raid where the Avengers successfully retrieved Loki’s scepter, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) referred to Tony as “boss.” Tony then gestured towards Captain America and corrected her with, “Actually, he’s the boss. I just pay for everything and design everything and make everyone look cooler.”

With Ultron defeated and Tony ready to move on to the next chapter of his life, he said his goodbyes to Captain America and Thor at a new Avengers facility. As Thor leaves the facility to head back towards Asgard, he leaves a signature pattern scorched into the grass. Tony can’t help but comment on Thor’s disparaging behavior by pointing out, “That man has no regard for lawn maintenance.”

Film features flagship coupe in stunning action original graphic novel designed for Lexus

Today, on the brink of the opening of Comic-Con International: San Diego, Lexus and Marvel have announced a collaboration to pair the first-ever 2018 Lexus LC with Marvel’s dynamic Black Panther character in the highly anticipated film, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, slated to hit theaters on Feb. 16, 2018.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, and starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o, the film follows T’Challa, who, after the events of Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King.

“Marvel continuously captures audiences through charismatic characters and inspiring stories — the ideal fit for Lexus’ mission to craft amazing, engaging experiences,” said Brian Bolain general manager, Lexus marketing. “And the LC’s aggressive styling, high performance and agile handling are a perfect fit for the Black Panther’s quick, cat-like reflexes and superhuman feats. We’re excited to see the duo in action.”

To accompany the collaboration between Lexus and Marvel, Lexus also teamed with Marvel Custom Solutions to create an original graphic novel, with storytelling driven by famed writer Fabian Nicieza and cover illustrations by emerging graphic artists Scott “Rahzzah” Wilson and Szymon Kudranski. Centered around the balance between human and machine, the comic features the Lexus LC 500 with a new, Wakandan spin and its role in helping the Black Panther defeat a legendary villain.

Lexus and Marvel will celebrate their collaboration during Comic-Con after-hours at an exclusive Black Panther-themed event on Friday, July 21, with special performances by DJ Lulo Café and a surprise headliner. During the invite-only event, six variant covers for the graphic novel will be revealed to industry guests and comic enthusiasts.

“This campaign clicked from the get-go,” said Mindy Hamilton, Marvel’s SVP of global partnerships. “We have this bold, sophisticated hero stepping into the spotlight for the first time, and it’s been a blast to work with the Lexus team to build out a story that’ll familiarize fans with T’Challa as well as his advanced home nation of Wakanda.”

Lexus’ collaboration with Marvel is being coordinated by Lexus’ multicultural advertising agency, Walton Isaacson.

Ushering in a new era of design and engineering at Lexus, the LC 500 is expressive and stylish, with enhanced dynamic capability and performance. Additional information on the flagship coupe can be found here.

Thanos stands triumphant at the D23 Expo Marvel Studios booth.

After a full first day of D23 Expo you’d think we couldn’t follow it up with more, but Saturday was even bigger, and much, much, badder as Josh Brolin held court at the Marvel booth.

Fresh off his surprise appearance with the cast “Avengers: Infinity War” at the Disney, Marvel Studios & Lucasfilm- Live Action panel, Josh Brolin met with fans for a signing in front of his children — the Children of Thanos! The maquettes were unveiled for his appearance and fans were excited to get an up close look at Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, and Cull Obsidian.

Brolin even had an encounter with a real life Avenger, although this one was considerably shorter and much more adorable.

On the show floor the Disney Consumer Products Pavilion showcased new and exciting home products for fans to live their best Marvel life. On display were backpacks, workout gear, and if you’re worthy enough, a Mjolnir pendant made to compliment the mightiest of outfits. Even the greatest superhero would be exhausted from all that shopping, luckily free coffee was up for grabs adorned with the face of a familiar looking webslinger.
