You've met Tandy and Tyrone - now get a look at the rest of their universe!

We’re less than two months away from the premiere of “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger,” only on Freeform! Don’t miss the two-hour premiere, on Thursday, June 7 at 8pm ET/PT!

You’ve been introduced to our two leads — Tandy Bowen (played by Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (played by Aubrey Joseph). Now meet the rest of the key players in their lives. Marvelites, you may recognize some of the characters from their comic book origins.

As a refresher:

Tandy Bowen (played by Olivia Holt) was once privileged little girl, who watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.

Olivia Holt as Tandy

Tyrone Johnson (played by Aubrey Joseph) is young man who wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever.

Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone

Detective Brigid O’Reilly (played by Emma Lahana) is accustomed to working in a man’s world but she isn’t looking to be “one of the guys”. Her New York sensibilities have hardened her from being too friendly or open, setting her apart from her Louisiana counterparts. Brigid believes in justice and doesn’t think that anyone should be above it, including other cops. Especially other cops.

Father Delgado (played by Jaime Zevallos) is constantly seeking redemption in spite of the fact that he’s not sure that he deserves it. As a school counselor and priest, Delgado is a rock to Ty. Oppressed by the collar, he leads more through words than example, as he still struggles daily with the life he has chosen.

Detective Connors (played by J.D. Evermore) is contradiction of a man. Connors embraces an intimidating persona that overcompensates for a secret he keeps close to the vest.

J.D. Evermore as Detective Connors

Liam (played by Carl Lundstedt) is a salt-of-the-earth townie. Liam operates as Tandy’s partner in crime while moonlighting as her boyfriend. But underneath this rough-around-the-edges appearance, Liam has big dreams. All of them include Tandy.

Carl Lundstedt as Liam

Melissa Bowen (played by Andrea Roth) is the eternal optimist, despite struggles to adapt to her new existence. She’s complex and compromised, and often needs to fill her edges, but her love for her daughter burns brightly outside.

Andrea Roth as Melissa

Adina Johnson (played by Gloria Reuben) invests every aspect of her being into giving her son the life she believes he deserves. But she props up and protects Tyrone so much she almost forgets to love him.

Gloria Reuben as Mrs. Johnson

Otis Johnson (played by Miles Mussenden) trudges through his desk job to keep his family safe and happy. All while too-quietly mourners a loss. When he can, this working-class father does what he can to ensure his son Tyrone will grow up to be a man.

Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph took to the WonderCon stage to introduce Tandy & Tyrone to the world!

This weekend, fans got their first glimpse at the latest Marvel television super heroes, as “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger’s” very own Tyrone and Tandy were introduced to the Marvel fans during their very first WonderCon panel! Led by executive producer and Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen/Dagger), Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone Johnson/Cloak), executive producer and showrunner Joe Pokaski, and director Gina Prince-Bythewood took the stage to talk about the new show based on cult Marvel comics.

“From the get-go, Aubrey and I had a really awesome connection,” said Holt. The actors’ great connection on-screen and off, making for a perfect pairing.

This is the first lead role for Joseph, who acknowledged the dynamic with his co-star, “Just to have a friend who was there and to look out for me and make sure I was good and that I felt safe and I felt comfortable.” Looking to Holt, he sweetly declared, “I’m glad I have you as my Dagger. It was meant to be.”

Loeb acknowledged what might be considered a controversial move for some comic fans, moving the show out of New York to New Orleans. Pokaski joked that it was a concern because New York doesn’t have enough super heroes, “Hell’s Kitchen has like six [heroes] and it’s four blocks.” Filming in New Orleans just made sense for the show, “There’s a magic, there’s voodoo—there’s so much history underneath it—and I think it was the perfect place for Tandy and Tyrone to be,” asserted Pokaski, confidently.

Prince-Bythewood echoed that sentiment as she described the city’s authenticity, “New Orleans is such a beautiful city; it’s colorful, it has beauty, and it also has heartbreak,” all of which provides the perfect backdrop for the story.

After Karolina flies off the space, the gang heads East to help Cloak and Dagger.

Before Rainbow Rowell and Kris Anka’s RUNAWAYS launches in September, take a look at all of their major adventures as seen on Marvel Unlimited!

One of the hardest lessons learned on the pathway to adulthood revolves around the fact that people and groups always change. In their first volume, the RUNAWAYS kids learned this thanks to Alex’s betrayal of them, but that doesn’t mean it’s any easier when life reminds you of that lesson.

In RUNAWAYS #78, by Brian K. Vaughan and Takeshi Miyazawa presented Nico, Molly, Chase, Gert, Victor and especially Karolina with one of their most difficult challenges yet: letting a friend find themselves.

After facing off with, and appropriately mocking the sentient Nazi bee colony Swarm and an awkward moment were Karolina came on to Nico who did not reciprocate the feelings, a Skrull invaded! Named Xavin, the shape-shifter revealed himself as Karolina’s fiance thanks to a deal made between her parents and his people.

As you might expect, Karolina’s friends threw down to defend her, but ultimately the young Majesdanian decided to leave Earth for her home planet after Xavin shifted into a more female form.

Though they missed their friend, the gang continued on in their efforts to make the world a better place which included helping Cloak in RUNAWAYS #912 by Vaughan and Adrian Alphona. He’d been framed for nearly killing Dagger and a battle with the New Avengers helped dislodge his memories of the Pride’s children. Finding them, he asked for their help in tracking down who really hurt his friend Tandy.

In New York City for the first time, the kids split up with Chase and Nico tracking down Pusher Man, a guy selling mutant growth hormone laced with Darkforce, while Gert and Victor tried tracking down Dagger’s assailant, but instead ran into Spider-Man. Oh, and Molly had a run-in with Wolverine, Captain America and Iron Man in a church.

Aside from Molly punching Wolverine straight through the church door, the kids avoided a dust up with their elder heroes, but still left an impression as they uncovered the unbalanced individual who attacked Tandy, taking him out and clearing Cloak’s name in the process.

The adventure ended with Cloak sending the Left Coasters back home plus another hindered view of a new group, apparently kids, with the Pride’s Abstract in hand. To see how that shakes out, come back next week!

LOST & FOUND

The two stories above went a long in introducing the Runaways to the larger Marvel Universe. In addition to meeting the New Avengers, they also came into contact with one of the cosmos’ most prevalent alien races in Xavin. That continued in 2006’s FREE COMIC BOOK DAY SPECIAL. In that story, by Vaughan and Skottie Young, Cyclops, Wolverine and the other X-Men dropped into LA to recruit Molly as one of the surviving 198 mutants on the planet. Her pals didn’t take kindly to their approach and a good, old super hero brawl ensued. Ultimately, though, Emma Frost made peace after finding the recently lost Old Lace and reminding Cyclops that threats and violence tend not to work as positive motivators, especially when it comes to children who can punch holes in walls.

One friend returns as another falls in RUNAWAYS #1318 by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.

The forces of darkness and light converge on the Marvel mobile game!

Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen prove that heroes come in all shapes and sizes. The dynamic duo, known in super hero circles as Cloak and Dagger, bring both crippling darkness and purifying light to the villains of New York City’s seedy streets.

We talked with D3 Go! Producer Josh Austin about Cloak and Dagger’s abilities and the new mechanics they bring to “Marvel Puzzle Quest.”

Marvel.com: Cloak and Dagger are a really interesting choice for our next playable characters. And when I say characters, they actually fight as one, like Rocket and Groot right?

Josh Austin: Correct, Cloak and Dagger do fight as one in “Marvel Puzzle Quest” like Rocket and Groot but for this duo the player can flip between the two in battle!

Marvel.com: They actually switch positions during fights? What exactly do you mean by that?

Josh Austin: Cloak and Dagger actually swap places when using one of their abilities. The other two powers that don’t involve switching characters change depending on who is in the foreground, making the background character’s power a Passive. Cloak has a new power that reduces the power levels of one target opponent! Cloak and Dagger are also the first character that the player can swap between powers to see the unlisted powers in the roster. More characters will get this new roster treatment, but for now, Cloak and Dagger are the first character you don’t have to go into game to see the alternate power!

Marvel.com: Ok these two are introducing some cool new mechanics here. Let’s talk about their kit. Can you break it down for us?

Josh Austin: The first ability when Dagger is in front is called Light-Knives and it costs eight Yellow AP. Dagger fires several light-knives from her fingertips, cleansing the enemy of evil and darkness. She deals damage to the target and removes enemy Strike, Protect, or Attack tiles. If no such tiles exist, the damage is dealt to the enemy team instead.

When Dagger is in front, the second power is called Child of Darkness and it’s a Black Passive that doesn’t cost any AP. For this power, Cloak emanates darkness from within his pocket dimension, instilling the field with a cold sense of dread. At the start of the turn, if there are Black tiles on the board, this ability creates a Red Attack tile. If not, this power will convert basic tiles to Black.

The last ability with Dagger in front is called Pocket Dimension and it costs six Purple AP. Cloak and Dagger retreat into Cloak’s pocket dimension to launch a sneak attack. Deals damage and replaces Cloak and Dagger’s powers with new powers. If there are Black tiles on the board, this power costs three AP less, to a minimum of three.

The first ability with Cloak in front is called Child of Light and it’s a Yellow PASSIVE for zero AP. For this ability, Dagger emanates an aura of Living Light, cleansing the battlefield and fending off Cloak’s hunger. At the start of the turn, if there are Yellow tiles on the board, restore health to Cloak and Dagger, otherwise converts basic tiles to Yellow.

The second ability with Cloak in front is called The Darkness Hungers and it costs eight Black AP. Cloak creates a Black Countdown tile that targets the front enemy. While this tile is on the board, that enemy loses all levels in all powers, to a minimum of one.

The third ability with Cloak in front is called Pocket Dimension and it costs six Purple AP. For Cloak’s version, Cloak and Dagger retreat into Cloak’s pocket dimension to launch a sneak attack. Deals damage and replaces Cloak and Dagger’s powers with new powers. If there are Black tiles on the board, this power costs three AP less, to a minimum of three.

Marvel.com: Man these two sound like two of the most complex characters yet! But there’s tons of potential here for really cool interactions. What are the best times to have Cloak in front? And Dagger?

Josh Austin: Both stances benefit each other with AP generation. Having Dagger in front is better for removing enemy special tiles, but having Cloak in front not only gives access to his level lowering power, but the ability to heal Cloak and Dagger making the second stance great for players that need to heal during the fight.

Marvel.com: And it seems like Pocket Dimension was designed specifically to ensure the two can switch out fairly easily when needed. That feels like it’s going to be central to their play style.

Josh Austin: Definitely, the player can utilize both to build up the right AP for the board before swapping, or to change the tide of the battle in the player’s favor.

Marvel.com: While we know Cloak and Dagger don’t need anyone else to get by, who might be able to help them out best in a scrap?

Josh Austin: The best characters to team Cloak and Dagger up with would be anyone that benefits from friendly power activation. One of the best combinations [has] been Carnage (Cletus Kasady) and Medusa (Inhuman Queen). This offers a very high rate of special tile placement from Carnage maxed with Medusa’s healing when matching special tiles. Anytime too many enemy special tiles are placed from Carnage, Cloak and Dagger’s Light-Knives can remove most, if not all with ease.

Marvel.com: When can we play them for ourselves?

Josh Austin: Cloak and Dagger will be available on Thursday, April 6. They will debut in the Hearts of Darkness event running from April 6-10. The dynamic duo will also be available in their Vault for The Hunt that is running from April 9-14.  Cloak and Dagger’s Versus Tournament is called Double Jeopardy and runs from April 13–16.

Pick up Cloak and Dagger when they drop April 6 here and stay tuned to Marvel.com for more “Marvel Puzzle Quest” news and interviews.
