Following that, Ghost Rider paid him a visit in SPIDER-MAN #93, Kingpin, Ox, and Silvermane demanded his attention in SPIDER-MAN #94, and a trip to Europe with Betty Brandt scared up the Frankenstein Monster in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #21.

The Green Goblin busted Hobgoblin out of jail in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #259 to acquire a missing Osborn journal, Norman Osborn made a deal with Hobgoblin for it in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #260 and subsequently threw him to the dogs in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #261. Meanwhile, Spidey roped in a rampaging Rhino in SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #31, dared to accept aid from Daredevil versus Synario in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #438, and saved a little girl’s life in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #439. Any good feelings from that swiftly disappeared when Peter later found himself trapped in an elevator with none other than Norman Osborn in SPIDER-MAN #95.

During the Onslaught event, Spidey clashed with Sentinels in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #415 and SPIDER-MAN #72, then pondered a world without its heroes in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #416.

Peter’s condition worsened in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #237, a more monstrous Lizard tore up the landscape in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #238, and the original Lizard arrived in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #239 to put an end to it all. In that debacle, Peter once more took on the role of Spider-Man when Ben lost his life to Osborn’s treachery.

Ben swapped places with Peter behind bars in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #224, and the third Parker clone transformed into a monster called Spidercide. Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man scored a victory against the Jury in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #385, fought alongside the Shroud in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #208, and enjoyed a day at the beach with Sandstorm and Quicksand in WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #108. He later topped it all off with a Night Thrasher team-up in WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #109, as well as one with Iron Fist in SPIDER-MAN #42 and SPIDER-MAN #43.

The Vulture escaped from prison again in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #386 to seek a cure for his cancer, but wound up stealing Spidey’s youth in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #387. After a mystery involving Mysterio in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #4, the wallcrawler landed in the middle of a revolt in the Foreigner’s assassin’s guild in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #209 and SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #210. Enraged by their deaths, Peter flew into action to search for the villain in SPIDER-MAN #45, fought Tracer in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #211, followed the Chameleon to Kraven’s castle in WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #112, and sought revenge upon him in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #389.

Following a battle with the Fox with help from Johnny Storm in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #5, Spidey dropped into the middle of a war between Demogoblin and Hobgoblin in SPIDER-MAN #46, tried to stop Demogoblin’s subsequent prison break in SPIDER-MAN #47, and witnessed Hobgoblin’s new powers in SPIDER-MAN #48. Venom’s own “son” Carnage escaped in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #1 and immediately began gathering evil individuals to his side to sow chaos. They attacked Spidey and his allies in a church in WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #101 and invaded Central Park in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #378 while the wallcrawler reluctantly teamed with Venom in SPIDER-MAN #35 to balance the scales. Carnage utilized the powers of Shriek to torture his “parent” in WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #103, and in the aftermath, Spidey and his team dealt with fallout in the city from Shriek’s blast in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #380.

With most of New York in agony from Shriek in SPIDER-MAN #37, Cloak returned to Dagger’s side to help our hero in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #203 and ultimately corral Carnage in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #2.
